I believe that the things we surround ourselves with matter. They remind us of the places we’ve been, the people we love as well as the ones we’ve lost. They are a reflection of our interests and possibly even a glimpse into our future. Now more than ever, we search for meaning in our surroundings. A home where we feel connected, safe and surrounded by love.
ORIGIN — All good things take time.
FINA for me is more than an online shop. It’s been decades in the making. A persistent dream in the back of my mind, waiting to be brought to life. Within it lies a a re-connection to my passion for sourcing unique, time-worn pieces. A return to creating a mindful and beautiful home that tells a unique story. An ode to the strong, beautiful matriarch in my family.
FINA: Named after my Mother Josefina who passed away in the Spring of 2019. We had a very strong bond and my love for art, design and antiques stem from her. At a young age, she exposed me to galleries, flea markets and thrift stores. Not because it was trendy, but because it was cost-effective. As new immigrants to Canada, my parents did whatever they could to provide for our family which forced them to be resourceful and creative. Mom decorated our home on a budget, switching out colours and accents for the season. I am grateful I was able to witness her creativity and love for home. Losing my Mother inspired me to honour her legacy in a meaningful way. I now know the waiting had a purpose. In spirit and love, we present to you FINA.
